About the project

From street culture and underground economies to communities surviving against impossible odds, The Taboo Room is told through raw access, cinematic visuals and unfiltered conversation.

Each story is captured with a natural-light approach — embracing available light to preserve the truth, texture and atmosphere of every environment. Working in high-pressure, unpredictable locations meant moving quickly, safely and unobtrusively while still delivering standout images.

I shot and edited 10 episodes of the series and was in charge of the visuals from start to finish — choosing where we filmed, capturing the B-roll and deciding camera positioning for every scene.

When I first met Aaron, the channel had 165,000 subscribers. Within one year of our collaboration, it grew to half a million.
