About

Jonathan Gonzales

I’m a Director of Photography and documentary filmmaker dedicated to capturing honest, emotionally driven stories.

With 5+ years of professional experience, I’ve built a body of work that spans gritty on-the-ground documentaries, brand storytelling, interview-driven pieces and narrative shorts.

My approach blends technical precision with a deep respect for the people and environments I film. Whether I’m embedded in communities across the country for The Taboo Room or shaping polished brand activations for clients, my focus is always the same: create imagery that feels real, human and cinematic.

I design shots from script to screen — handling lighting, composition, movement and post-production in both Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. I’ve filmed in high-pressure, unpredictable environments across the U.S., working quickly, safely and unobtrusively while still delivering standout visuals.

As a self-employed DP, I bring a full production mindset to every project: clear communication, efficient planning and deliverables tailored to each client’s goals. I’ve worked with brands, small businesses, artists, nonprofits and production teams who trust me to present their stories with authenticity and impact.
